Scientists from Spain have developed a lunar regolith simulant that can assist in testing hardware, experiments and even test whether it might be possible to grow food or use it to make building materials for constructing future lunar bases. The simulant, called LZS-1, has a similar composition to the soil samples of the Moon’s surface, specifically the grey soil of Tao, in the Canary Islands.
