OpenAI warned Microsoft not to rush the integration of GPT-4 into Bing; users reported “unhinged” behavior in the Bing AI tool. Microsoft invested in a 49% stake in OpenAI to gain early access to its AI tech for Bing and to add CoPilot to Office. However, WSJ reports “conflict and confusion” behind the scenes, with some Microsoft employees complaining of a lack of direct access to OpenAI’s models and R&D. The open relationship may encounter more issues down the line, as both companies attempt to make money from similar products.
Reddit CEO, Steve Huffman, is not concerned that Reddit’s recent protest against the API policy changes will have any significant revenue impact. Over 8,000 subreddits went private in protest of the policy change which charges developers for API access.
